Your email address though is required during the registration process as we will use your email address to contact you occasionally and may also use it for security reasons to confirm if you are a genuine user. You do have the option of not sharing your email address with anyone.
Personal information
This includes your interests, hobbies, about me page, education, employment, present location and hometown. If you choose to add them then you can control who can view it. We recommend that you keep these information open to everyone so that it will assist with the initial process of finding a friend.
Gender and Age
During the registration process, we also require you to provide to us your gender and your date of birth so that it can be proved that you are 13 or over. As your gender and date of birth are both crucial for us to know you cannot delete them however, in the privacy settings page, you can select to hide your age.
Information open to ‘Everyone’
Information such as name; gender; avatar picture; user ID; receive messages; receive friend invites; find me on Friendship Zone using the search tab; Forum; comments made on Running-Line; Good Stories and Requests For Support are open for everyone to view, where you do not have the option of changing these.
Young persons
In order to protect youngsters aged thirteen (13) years or over, Friendship Zone has ensured additional safety precautions and protections are in place if vulnerable children feel insecure at any time during their time on Friendship Zone’s website, or simply they just want to learn more about such matters. Thus, the website contains a link to the CEOP’s (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre) main website which can be found at the bottom of Friendship Zone’s web-page. There, they can get more information on various topics and/or report abuse. Alternatively, at the bottom of the page is a ‘contact’ link to send a message to Friendship Zone, where the administration team will take suitable actions there on.
